What a year it has been – 2020 Pandemic crisis

What a year it has been for all of us. At he beginning of 2020 Living Beyond Hope had set high goals for Arnoldine projects and we were looking forward to working with all of you our heroes to change lives at Arnoldine Secondary school. We were looking forward to completing the first teachers housing project and beginning building the second house. We were looking forward to raise funds for bringing clean energy to Arnoldine secondary – Solar energy.  With the growing student population at Arnoldine secondary school, the ability to provide more clean water is becoming a challenge.  There is a need to add more water tanks at the school to accommodate the growing student population.

Unlike in first world countries where the majority but not all were able to go to school virtually. That has not been the situation for the majority of the students in Zimbabwe and especially at Arnoldine secondary school. From March of 2020 to beginning of November schools have been closed in Zimbabwe. The majority of students were not going to school. Simply put the students lost a year of learning.

As we focus on year 2021, many questions are in the minds of the teachers and parents at Arnoldine Secondary school including some of the challenges mentioned above. How can we start schooling safely? Where can we get hand sanitizers? How about mask? How can we create classroom space with ENOUGH social distancing? We want to help address some of these needs and we know we can not do it alone. We are hoping with your donations we will be able to address some of these students and teachers’ needs.
